Shalva Papuashvili: Similar records included in the draft resolution of the European Parliament by the European People's Party clearly show how flawed this resolution is and what a superficial idea they have of Georgia

Similar records included in the draft resolution of the European Parliament by the European People's Party regarding the draft law on transparency clearly show how flawed this resolution is and how it is out of touch with reality, - the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia writes about this on the social network.

As he points out, labeling the Abkhazia region as an independent state is as wrong as calling the transparency bill a "Russian law" or as if it "betrays" the aspirations of democratic development.

"Regarding the transparency bill of Georgia, similar notes included in the draft resolution of the European Parliament by the European People's Party clearly show how flawed this resolution is and how it is out of touch with reality. It also clearly shows what a superficial idea they have of Georgia, its context, needs, pains and struggles.

Designating the Abkhazia region as an independent state is as wrong as calling the transparency bill a "Russian law" or as if it "betrays" the aspirations of democratic development. Similarly, they baselessly call for the release of Mikheil Saakashvili or imposition of sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Instead of playing with reputation, I would advise the European Parliament colleagues and the opposition of Georgia to speak with facts. Also, I would like them to spend this energy in persuading the European Union to recognize Abkhazia and Tskhinvali as regions occupied by Russia", - writes Shalva Papuashvili.
